Chaplain killed in car bomb attack

On August 30, an IED explosion claimed the lives of five soldiers in Afghanistan, among them Chaplain Dale Goetz, father of three.  From what we can gather, this is the first chaplain killed in action in the current wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.  He was riding in a convoy.  About a month earlier, chaplain assistant SSG Christopher Todd Stout was killed in a similar IED attack, the first chaplain assistant killed in action since the Vietnam War, according to the Military Chaplains Association.
